Privacy, infection control and daylight, all at once
Clinical environments carry three requirements that usually fight each other. Patient privacy has to be absolute and immediate. Surfaces have to be cleanable, which rules out fabric hanging in a treatment space. And daylight matters clinically, not decoratively — it affects orientation, sleep and recovery.
Curtains and blinds fail on the second requirement. Solid partitions fail on the third. Permanently frosted glazing fails on both observation and daylight.
Switchable glazing in clinical space
Switchable glass gives a treatment room, a bay or a consulting room instant, complete privacy at a switch, and returns it to a clear, observable, daylit space the moment privacy is no longer required.
Because the switchable layer is laminated inside the glass, the surface is a single cleanable plane — there is no fabric, no slat and no track collecting dust in a clinical environment. UV control protects both occupants and the interior, and fire-rated glazing handles the compartment lines that healthcare buildings depend on.
