Electrochromic Film

Tint as a variable, not a fixed choice

Dynamic control over transparency and heat transfer — tint that responds instead of a fixed film that compromises between winter and summer.

Control
Switched, scheduled, or integrated with the building system
  • Supplied across India Noida, Delhi NCR and the wider India market.
  • Specified to the elevation Tint range chosen against orientation and glazed area.
  • Technical values confirmed in writing Nothing enters a specification unverified.

Overview

A conventional solar film is a single decision made once: dark enough to control August, and darker than anyone wants in January. Electrochromic film removes that compromise. It changes tint state on demand, so the same glazing can reject heat when the sun is on the elevation and clear again when it is not.

For commercial buildings this shows up first as cooling load, then as glare complaints, then as the number of hours the blinds spend down and the lights on. For residential and decorative work, the same film family covers solar control, privacy, frosted and decorative finishes.

Benefits

The reasons clients give, rather than the reasons a datasheet gives.

  • Lower cooling demand

Rejecting solar energy at the glass line reduces the load the air-conditioning has to remove.

  • Glare control that adapts

Screens stay readable through the day without closing the space down with blinds.

  • UV protection

Reduces the ultraviolet component that fades finishes, fabrics and merchandise.

  • Privacy and security options

The film family includes privacy and safety grades alongside solar control.

  • Decorative range

Frosted and decorative finishes for interior glazing where the requirement is visual rather than thermal.

  • Year-round performance

Solar control films and year-round energy-saving options are specified according to the elevation.

Features

How the specification is arrived at.

  • Assess the elevation

Orientation, glazed area and existing glass make-up determine how much solar energy is arriving and how much of it needs to be intercepted.

  • Select the film state range

The clear and tinted end-points are selected against the daylight the space needs to keep and the heat it needs to reject.

  • Apply and connect

The film is applied to the glass and connected to a low-voltage supply, with control at the panel, on a schedule or through the building system.

  • Tune in use

Tint schedules are adjusted once the space is occupied, because the right setting is the one the occupants stop complaining about.

Applications

Where this film is most often specified.

  • Office elevations with high solar gain

  • Meeting rooms with screen-based work

  • Retail frontage and display windows

  • Residential living space and glazed extensions

  • Atria and glazed circulation

  • Reception and waiting areas

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Electrochromic film is switched — you or the building system decide the tint state. Photochromic film reacts to incident light on its own. Where the requirement is control, specify electrochromic; where it is automatic response, photochromic.

The point of a variable tint is that it is only dark when it needs to be. In the clear state the glazing behaves close to untinted, so daylight is retained outside the hours the elevation is loaded.

Reducing solar heat arriving through the glass reduces the load the cooling plant has to remove. The saving depends on the elevation, the glazed ratio and the existing glass, so it should be assessed per building.

Yes — it is a film product, applied to the installed glass rather than glazed in.
