Office tower facade fitted with photochromic smart film

Daylight-Responsive Facade Film, Noida

Photochromic film applied to the west-facing curtain wall of a nine-floor office tower to cut solar heat gain and glare without blinds or blocking the view.

Solstice's west facade took the full brunt of the afternoon sun, pushing up cooling load and forcing tenants on that side to keep their blinds permanently shut. The facility team wanted the heat and glare gone without losing the view or adding anything tenants would need to operate. Photochromic film was applied across the full west-facing curtain wall, reacting automatically to direct sunlight through the day.

The challenge

Afternoon heat gain and glare on the west facade were driving up HVAC load, and tenants kept blinds shut all day, losing the view the building was built around.

The solution

Photochromic film applied across the west-facing curtain wall. The film darkens automatically as direct sun hits the glass and clears again by evening, with no wiring, switches or day-to-day operation required.

The result

Tenants on the affected floors kept their blinds open through the afternoon for the first time, and the facility team recorded a measurable drop in afternoon cooling load on that elevation.
